Connecticut House, Western Connecticut
This slender house sets atop one large rock, seen here from
the east entry court (not yet complete in this photo) toward the entrance, framed
between the house and garage. All rooms enjoy the western
view overlooking a river valley in western Connecticut, visible through the entry slot.

AIA Design Award, Eastern New York
London Brokerage Office
This is the only truly interior space on the floor.
The half circular wall contrasts with the office geometry, a
rectangular glass interior wall within a glass exterior, seen in subsequent photos.

Residence, Eastern New York
We maintained the eccentric exterior character of this barn conversion, and
opened the interior with two primary intersecting interior spaces --
one horizontal, one vertical.

Residence, Southwest Connecticut
We designed an open family room/kitchen addition to integrate
with a nineteenth century cottage set amidst the woods.

New York Art Gallery Space can be created from limited
actual volume with no windows. We designed the largest and
longest possible exibition space in this irregularly shaped 1150 sf plan,
stepped one side wall to fit the remaining requirements.
All rooms are remarkably spacious despite the limited size, and
functions remarkably well - good value for the client.
Engineering Office Reception, Birmingham, UK
When we designed this office in the early 1980's, the Apple II+ had
debuted. Computers were
magic, and our client wanted to emphasize their modern technology.
Accordingly, the computer room became an integral part of the reception
room, protected by frameless glass etched with the client's logo.
Pool and Greenhouse, Eastern New York
The pool and thermal greenhouse
transformed this hay field into a comfortable summer
retreat. Later additions included a scuplture at the
end of the pool (right),and the observatory with
11" reflector (left). The roof geometry,
siding, trim and color palette match the
17th century farm house (behind poolhouse).
Advertising Agency, London
This ad agency needed many small private offices in a space 25%
shy of their requirements.
To create an orderly space, administrative staff and small glass
conference rooms were placed around a row of columns in
the long wide central street.
The plan works well because everything fits and the central circulation
area dominates and unifies the space physically and spatially.

Hudson River Guest House
The Guest house is perhaps my smallest commission, but one in which
the client and I had considerable fun developing this simple form
with a rather complex space.

Colorado House
The driving force behind this weekend mountain retreat was to design a
house in which one could see a full panorama, without window coverings,
while insuring visual privacy.

Galleria, London
Conceived as a mix of uses, this ten story 150,000 square
foot urban complex was designed to accommodate
pedistrian and automobile access on a busy street.
Retail covers the ground floor, flats on the upper left,
and offices on the upper right.
Pedistrians enter through the corner atrium.
Vehicular drop off and garage entry are behind the building.
